I downloaded and ran the file using Internet Explorer (which I usually do not use) because the instructions on the FTR website are for IE. I ran the Microsoft Fixit program on my laptop and it did not detect any problems. I tried installing it on my desktop running Windows 7 and had the same problem.
I attempted downloading the file multiple times, thinking that maybe something was wrong with the previous downloads, but none of them have installed. I am running Windows 8.1.NET 3.5 is all checked off in my windows features, as is. I do not find TheRecord Player installed anywhere on my computer when I look for it.

The first time I attempted to install the software windows gave me a message saying that the program may not have installed correctly and asking if I wanted to install using compatibility settings.

Now my issue is warehouse does not have appeared to see everything. I noted that now all files and location for some days are there and that a bunch of dates are missing. and started picking random dates based on what I see in the folder structure of our archived files. I already had the search set up for warehouse. I opened player then the clicked on folder and brought up the search stuff. I was doing some random checks to see if everything was discovered. So My synchronization appears to have completed. The next time I installed and opened FTR is once again asked me to assign a search folder, but this time I said "no" and I am able to manually load audio and it plays fine. I edited the registry manually and then the next time I installed the program I also used Windows' "compatibility troubleshooter" and told it that the program worked previously on Windows 8 (I am now running 8.1). Definitely had something to do with the chosen search folder. UPDATE: After hours of trial and error, I think I may have solved the problem. I work for Reportex Agencies (among others) in Vancouver and I know they support FTR. I spent a lot of money on a new computer and I can't even do my work without FTR. I have no problems paying for an upgrade on end of life circle (which should be after a new OS version)Īnd now for my rant.I just bought a brand new computer, and I'm trying to install FTR. I have been in this industry since the beginnings and spend over the time enough money on software (with the money I spend in the last 30 years just for my private consume on software one could buy a house) let alone the millions spent in the cooperate environment. It is a sad picture for a big company (and until now also an Company with a good reputation) like this to engage in such tactics.

Rather than doing this, VMware should release a patch to fix that. I am quiet sure that this can't actually be legal forcing (because if we don't upgrade our OS will have security wholes because we can not update our OS) users to pay for this upgrade. I bought my Licence for VMware Workstation 14 last year and I think that VMware shouldn't charge people for making their software compatible (to the exact User System) by buying the upgrade. I think it is ludicrous to force people to upgrade from 14 pro to 15 pro.
